My New Computer

Got back from Future Shop today with bag in hand and a new computer! The good ole 17-Inch MacBook Pro has certainly been a good companion all these years but it's time to move forward. The new model is the Macbook Air 13-Inch. it's nearly 2D and has more disk space than my 17-Inch beast did anyway.

On other fronts, I had some fun this weekend hanging with some of the Affinity Bridge crew for ArianeK's bday! The events consisted of brunch and music. It gave me a good chance to see everybody outside of the work environment.

I plan to blog in the near future on how taking up the reigns of GIT has been. My crash course on drupal features, new (to me at least) site deployment with install profiles and drush make files.

User Profiles as Nodes with Drupal

I'd like to start June's blog post with a neat Drupal module suggestion, Content Profile. I've been working with it for the past few weeks and I've definitely warmed up to it. It displays nodes as part of a user's profile. You can have multiple nodes set up as part of a multi-page profile, for example. A Profile node and a User Advertisement node. User's are limited to 1 of each type, which is handy but also limited. I'd like to see options for multiple nodes of content profile type, that way a user could create 2 or 3 Advertisement nodes if that was the desired outcome. Check it out, it may be just what your project needs.

Smithmilner.com is now under SVN version Control

Hey Internet,

All the rain has driven me to have a complete veggie day at home. I have spent the past 2 weeks studying subversion and reading the Red Bean Book to wrap my head around some Subversion(SVN) features other then update commit and checkout. I started testing by using a fresh drupal installation. Then I purposefully created conflicts to understand how it all works and resolve them. It all went smoothly.
