Donald Smith Milner (goes by Smith) graduated from the New Media Design & Web Development program at BCIT. He has plans to work for a web firm and do some travelling. His skills mainly focus on drupal websites, particularly configuring, themeing and development. Smith would like to learn more about javascript and advanced PHP coding after school. He attended night classes at BCIT prior to the full program while he was interning at Bryght and later Raincity Studios.
Growing up in Whistler BC has proven to make Smith a good skier with a racing background. He also sailed most summers on the West Coast of British Columbia. During high school Smith worked on the mountain as a ski instructor with CSIA(Canadian Ski Instructor's Alliance) level 2 accreditation.
Over high school Smith spent a lot of his time around computers and online. He worked at a PC computer repair shop for his senior year and knew he wanted to work with computers and the web in the future. He interned at Bryght and Raincity Studios from September 2007 to July 2008. After the internship the studio promoted him to the paid position of Production Assistant which he held from July 2008 to February 2009. During his time as a Production Assistant Smith learned from his co-workers and explored techniques used by the pros. Gamer by nature, Smith is a competitor and a professional perfectionist. he has developed a condition known as the Drupal-Bug and is establishing himself in Vancouver's Drupal community. Currently he is enjoying himself with several freelance and personal projects in an effort to hit the ground running after graduation.
Eventually, Smith would like to partner with another web enthusiast and create a company with competitive services that carries unique value. Drupal, Wordpress, SASS, PHP, AJAX... Whatever the future holds Smith will be on the forefront learning and creating.
